Kang served as the chairman of the judging committee of the Korea Art Exhibition (Figure Art Division) and the chairman of the Tattoo Art Awards.
In recognition of his artistic excellence and contribution to Korean art, he has received several awards, including the Proud Artist Award and the Korea Mugunghwa Grand Prize (art category)
